How the free plan, Pro and billing work, and what you get for the price.
Q. Is ASCII Magic free?
Yes. The core editor and every core style, ASCII, dither, pixel art and voxel, are free forever with no account, no watermark and no export limit. You only pay for Pro, which unlocks the full 100+ effect library, 4K export and AI generative renders.
Q. How much does ASCII Magic Pro cost?
Pro starts at $4 a month on the yearly plan (billed $48 a year, a founding price locked for life), $7 a month billed quarterly, or $8 a month billed monthly. The founding rate rises to $12 a month after launch, so the yearly plan locks in the lowest price.
Q. What is the difference between the free and Pro plans?
Free gives you every core style, unlimited watermark-free image and video exports, and 3 starter generative credits. Pro adds all 100+ effects and shaders, 4K image and video export, 10 AI generative renders a month, a priority render queue, and every future effect free while you stay Pro.
Q. Do I need an account or subscription to use ASCII Magic?
No. The free tool runs entirely in your browser with no sign-up, no account and no watermark. A Pro subscription is optional and only needed for Pro features like the full effect library, 4K export and generative renders.
Q. What are generative render credits?
Credits are used only for AI generative renders, which reimagine a photo with AI. One credit renders one generative effect. Free includes 3 starter credits and Pro includes 10 a month. Every other style, effect and export is unlimited and never uses credits.
Q. Can I cancel ASCII Magic Pro anytime?
Yes. The monthly and quarterly plans are flexible with no lock-in and can be cancelled anytime. The yearly plan is billed once a year at the founding price and keeps that rate for as long as you stay subscribed.
Q. Is there a free trial of ASCII Magic Pro?
You do not need one. The core editor and core styles are free forever, so you can use ASCII Magic fully before deciding whether the Pro effects, 4K export and generative renders are worth it for you.
Q. Can I use ASCII Magic commercially?
Yes. Whatever you export is yours to use commercially, in social posts, posters, prints, client work and more, on both the free and Pro plans. The only rights you need are for the source photo or video you upload.
