/WHAT IT IS

An LED sign generator for any image

Drop a photo into the editor and pick the LED Matrix style. The engine samples your image on a regular grid and draws each cell as a single lit LED, adding a soft bloom around the brightest ones. The result reads like a real dot-matrix panel: a stadium scoreboard, a departure board, an arcade marquee or a hand-built LED sign, built from your own image's light and shade.

Because each LED glows rather than just prints a colour, dark areas of the photo fall away into the black panel and bright areas bloom outward, exactly how an emissive display behaves in a dim room. That gives LED Matrix a very different feel from a flat pixel or halftone grid: it looks lit from within.

Every LED Matrix control

LED Matrix gives you a small, focused set of controls. Each one updates the preview live as you drag it.

LED Type, the shape of every lit cell: round dot (a classic indicator LED), square SMD (the surface-mount look of a modern LED panel), RGB stripe (sub-pixel stripes like a large display) or marquee bulb (theatre-sign bulbs).
Scale, the LED pitch, the spacing between LEDs. A wider pitch gives a coarse, chunky scoreboard; a tighter pitch packs in more LEDs for a finer, higher-resolution panel.
Glow, the bloom radius and brightness around each lit LED. Low glow reads as crisp individual dots; high glow spills light across the panel for a hazy, neon-lit look.
Brightness, the overall drive of the panel, how hard the LEDs are lit. Pull it down for a dim, moody board or push it up for a blown-out, high-energy sign.
Color, choose a solid tint for the whole panel, or detect the colour of each LED from the source pixel for a full-colour display that follows your photo.
LED Color, the colour used in solid mode, amber by default for that classic signage look. When you animate the effect, this colour pulses.

Tips for a convincing LED sign

Match the LED type to the vibe. Round dot and marquee bulb read as retro signage and theatre marquees; square SMD reads as a modern stadium or transit panel; RGB stripe reads as a huge outdoor video wall.
Use Scale to set the resolution. A coarse pitch turns a portrait into a blocky scoreboard face, while a fine pitch keeps enough detail for logos and text. Start coarse, then tighten until the subject is readable.
Push Glow for night visuals. Higher glow makes the panel feel lit in a dark room and helps the bright areas bloom; keep it low when you want each LED to stay crisp and countable.
Keep colour per-LED for photos, solid for signage. Per-LED colour preserves the look of the source image; a solid amber or single-colour tint reads more like a real dot-matrix sign or ticker.
Animate for a pulsing marquee. In solid-colour mode, animating makes the LED colour pulse, so a static logo or headline becomes a living marquee. Export the loop as a GIF or MP4.
