ASCII art headers for X, LinkedIn and GitHub

Export ASCII art at the exact sizes for an X header, a LinkedIn banner and a GitHub social preview image.

Loading the builder…

/WHY

Your header is the biggest picture on your profile, and each platform wants a different size and covers a different corner with your photo. The builder draws the art at the exact size for X, LinkedIn, GitHub, YouTube, Twitch, Discord and Facebook, shows where the profile photo will sit and where the safe area is, and lets you add your name and a line about you.

Download one header, or every size at once from the same piece so your profiles match.

/EXAMPLES

Ready-made examples to copy

Each one is complete. Copy it as it is, or change the piece name to any piece in the library.

Developer profile set

One piece across X, LinkedIn and GitHub, so people recognise you everywhere.

Piece: Circuit Trace Look: Original
Big text: (your name)
Small text: "Backend engineer. I write about databases."
Text side: Right Download every size

GitHub social preview

Shown whenever someone shares your repo link. Repository Settings > General > Social preview.

Platform: GitHub social preview (1280 x 640)
Piece: Spinning Torus Big text: my-project
Small text: "Fast, tiny, zero dependencies"

YouTube channel banner

Only the middle 1546 by 423 shows on every device. The dashed box marks it; keep words inside.

Platform: YouTube channel banner (2560 x 1440)
Piece: Starry Ridge Text side: Centre
Big text: Your channel Small text: "New videos every Tuesday"

Art only, no text

Often the cleanest choice. Leave both text boxes empty and let the art carry the page.

Piece: Ocean Sunset Look: Halftone dots Dot size: 70%

How to do it

  1. Pick a wide piece, a scene or a divider.
  2. Export with the X header, LinkedIn banner or GitHub social preview preset.
  3. Upload it in your profile or repository settings.

Every piece page has an Export panel with these sizes: Desktop 4K, Desktop 1080p, Phone wallpaper, YouTube thumbnail, GitHub social preview, X header, LinkedIn banner, Square post and Story.

/GUIDE

The profile photo problem

On X, LinkedIn and Facebook your round profile photo sits over the lower left of the header. Anything placed there is hidden. Keep text on the right or in the centre; the builder draws the photo where each platform puts it.

Safe areas

Platforms crop headers differently on phones, tablets, desktops and TVs. The dashed box in the preview marks the part that is visible on all of them. Keep your name and any text inside it; let the art run to the edges.

Keep text short

A header is seen at a glance. Your name, or one line about what you do, is plenty. Your bio, links and pinned post do the rest.

/FAQS

ASCII art headers for X, LinkedIn and GitHub: frequently asked questions

Q. How do I make an ASCII art header for my profiles?
Pick a platform and a piece in the builder, add your name and a short line if you like, and download the PNG at that platform's exact size. The preview shows where your profile photo will sit and marks the safe area, so your ASCII art header never hides anything important behind the photo or a crop.
Q. What size is a Twitter header, and where does the photo cover it?
An X (formerly Twitter) header is 1500 by 500 pixels. Your round profile photo covers part of the lower left, and phones crop a little from the top and bottom. Keep text on the right or in the center, inside the safe area the builder draws, and let the art run to the edges.
Q. What size is a LinkedIn banner?
A personal LinkedIn banner is 1584 by 396 pixels, which is what the builder exports. The profile photo covers the lower left on desktop and sits near the center on mobile, so keep text on the right. Company pages use 1128 by 191; pick a piece with its subject in a horizontal band and crop.
Q. What size is a GitHub social preview image, and where do I upload it?
A GitHub social preview is 1280 by 640 pixels, and it should be under 1 MB. Upload it in your repository under Settings, General, Social preview. GitHub shows it whenever someone shares the repository link, so a piece with your project name in big text works well.
Q. Which platforms does the header builder support?
It supports seven formats: X header, LinkedIn banner, GitHub social preview, YouTube channel banner at 2560 by 1440, Twitch profile banner at 1200 by 480, Discord server banner at 960 by 540 and Facebook cover at 1640 by 624. Download every size makes all seven from the same piece in one go.
Q. Where should I put text so my profile photo does not hide it?
Put it on the right or in the center. On X, LinkedIn and Facebook the profile photo overlaps the lower left of the header, and the builder draws it in the same place so you can see any clash before you upload. The Text side option moves your words to the right, center or left.
Q. What is the safe area on a YouTube channel banner?
Only the middle 1546 by 423 pixels of the 2560 by 1440 banner shows on every device, from phones to TVs. The builder's dashed box marks that area and scales your text down to fit inside it. Let the art fill the rest, since TVs show the whole image and phones show only the middle.
Q. Can I add my name to an ASCII art header?
Yes. Type your name in Big text and what you do in Small text, choose the side and the text color, and the builder draws them on the art at the exact export size. Both fields are optional. Keep it to a name and one line; your bio and links do the rest.
Q. Why does my header look blurry after I upload it?
Platforms compress uploads, and they resize anything that is not the size they expect, which adds blur. Upload the PNG at exactly the size the builder made for that platform. Pieces with very fine detail can also soften; a halftone dots look with a larger dot size gives a crisper result.
Q. Can I use an animated header on social media?
Mostly no, because most platforms accept only still images for profile headers, so the builder exports PNGs. Discord allows animated banners on servers with enough boosts; for that, download a GIF from the piece page. Everywhere else, choose a strong still frame with the Moment in the animation slider.
Q. Which ASCII pieces suit wide header formats?
Wide, low pieces fill a header best. Synthwave Grid, Retro Synth Sunset, Northern Lights, Starfield Warp, Circuit Trace and Wave Divider all spread across a long strip without an awkward crop. Pattern and generative pieces also work, because any slice of them still looks complete.
Q. Can I make a header with only the art and no text?
Yes, and it is often the cleanest choice. Leave both text boxes empty and the builder exports the art alone at the platform's size. A calm look such as halftone dots makes a quiet background that lets your profile photo and the name on your page stand out.
